She could just compromise and become a swordmage that uses magic which needs little to no incantation, kind of like a certain cat and her sentient magical sword.

Also he's wrong in one of his statements. Not everyone wants to be the protagonist (who does the dirty work), some people like me prefer being the side/mob character (who can just sit back, relax, grab some popcorn, and maybe even die depending on the genre).
