And for the semi reasonable idea of just go and complain to the boss of that jerk (who is the direct boss of MC) or the boss of the boss is
1)Good odds that the one above is a good friend of him (nepotism at it's finest) and reporting to almost sure will end nasty very fast
2)At certaint point in the chain of commander you will be kicked out just because don't have enough importance/relevance; being recruit and a drafted one for all intends and purposes (I know that MC isn't but neither he want to STAY and having a career in the military, yet at least) is the same as the lowest of the maggots (unless you know someone in the brass, but again it's the first point)
3)More unlikely, there are someone(s) who want this (aka corruption) stay the same for some unknow purposes (political is one option)

It’s ironic because if war ever broke out, he’s the guy that would be abandoned. Unfortunately what will actually happen is that he basically leaves them all to die after some event occurs and they end up doing nothing because an mc never has a pair until after their friend dies. @degenerateafro He's probably just taking the opportunity to abuse his power since MC/orc/girl were dispatched to the location, so he assumes he'll never have to see them after this training and it doesn't actually matter. He's friendly enough to the other soldiers, who from the dialog weren't dispatched there, so they're probably his actual unit at that location.

Of course it's probably all gonna blow up in his face when some dangerous twist happens during training to let the MC show off.
