@Cheso_No_Akuma: In those kind of worlds, if somebody weird is coming out of a deep forest, they might be not what they seem to be. Even if they look human or helped. Could be a spy, somebody powerful in disguise, a criminal... or a demon.

Makes every bit of sense to be wary.

Sadly, most writers do not play with this setup.

@DeathDonut are they on a war or something for you to think of such things? Being too cautious leads to anxiety bruh, and who the fck would treat their savior badly? You need to stop overthinking things atleast in these genres. This doesn't even have any kingdom building tags....

They have appraisal tools you know atleast this right? It looks like changing your status is considered impossible and it can tell if you commit bad things before.

It is fantasy. Meaning mankind is not on the top of the food chain, there are beings more powerful than humans, and they're not friendly. Also, bandits are a thing. Makes every sense to be wary.
As for appraisal tools, they haven't used anything like that on the guy when he approached. Those people aren't going to live long on the road in this kind of world with this kind of carelessness. Then again, maybe that's why they ran into the monsters in the first place.

You need to stop overthinking

No, I don't, and that's not overthinking. Thinking about world building is fun. And this is a plot hole. Of course, the author wanted to slap a cliche and be done with it, but wouldn't hurt to think what the scene would look like if it was handled properly.

You know there was that appraisal tool right? Meaning, bandits would never be able to get inside a city if they don't have an army or if they can't obliterate one or maybe they have the same op skills as the mc which is normally next to impossible to happen since they can get appraised and won't be able to go inside.

And why would a bandit save a merchant who's about to die anyway? The bandit could literally just wait for a few hours for the wolves to go out and just take the merchant's stuff. Easy money right?

And what do you mean by carelessly going on a road anyway? The Merchant isn't careless, You know that he has adventurers as a guard. It's just his unlucky day that's all(which he got used for the plot.)

You can't expect every journey to have a happily ever after in a fantasy world full of monsters that's why the adventurer's guild was made in these fantasy cliche.

And humans are not in the top of the food chain? Well, you're kinda right but did you really think humans would have that much population if they don't have the strength to protect themselves? Not everyone of them are strong sure but there sure are people who are strong that's why they even survive in the first place. Humans are considered as a race who have alot of potential (they are considered trashes in some other mangas but you get what I mean right?)

Good job not letting him in the city easily, of course, but an unarmed unharmed person without any equipment walking out of the forest is incredibly suspicious, because they can be a demon, a polymorphed dragon, a powerful mage or any other entity that is unfriendly or malevolent. Even if they helped. Because you don't know what they're planning and whether they're sincere or are planning to do something violent/insidious later.

Its simple, being a noble in the street without looking as a proper noble is dangerous, he can be attacked or kidnapped regardless if he's actually a noble or not.
Although, its seem stupid how the manga didn't explain any specific reason why mc chose not to reveal his surname.

Ah yes... Blablabla coin is worth this and that yen, even though exchange of any kind can't be done. When Rowling did magical coins exchange they had a purpose, no matter if the rate was flawed, there was an actual exchange of coins from one to another. If the other world doesn't have any kind of contact, there is no way to make any guess about how much would one coin relate to the other, they have no relation. They could try to compare buying power of street vendor food or one night in a hotel/inn, but not coins themselves. That would give some approximation, but still leave other things outside that range, like buying a sword, armor, or a horse for example. No way anything can be lumped like that with a fixed virtual exchange rate.

What these novels should show instead is how much is buying power of one gold coin: Could you buy a cow with it? Perhaps it's enough to buy you one night in a brothel? Just anything would do instead of bland it's equivalent to xxx yen.
