Isekai Tensei Soudouki - Ch. 63 - It's Our Victory

sheeet
looks like i was right about magic being used as artillery

walls wouldn't have done anything to stop that barrage unless it was some sort of anti-magic wall
(there was a discussion about "why trenches?" some time ago in an earlier chapter comment section)

@jonsmth
There's all kinds of magic though.

For trenches, I would say that you should use water magic and flood them.
With that said, I'm not sure how feasible it is to create enough water to flood those structures, but muddy trenches are unpleasant and cold will wear a soldier down.

The best way to deal with these defenses are tank like structures; they'd just roll over the wires and the trenches.

Also, I don't think a wall needs to be anti-magic to deal with magic. It really depends on how powerful each shot was. In this case, the mages appear to be used as suppressing fire, so they're more like gatling guns, and while they had the power to blow away barbed wire, I doubt they'd work well against walls. But then, mages might be considerably more versatile than gatling guns and have the ability to throw much more damaging magic projectiles.

We don't really have enough information to tell, as far as I'm aware.

HELL YEAH
When you've reached the Industrial era while the other Civ has amassed a large medieval infantry

Wondering how the next chapter will go since it looks like they'll be going into hand to hand combat
I wonder if MC will have some sort of flamethrower to repel the enemy attacks

Is this how its done?

Balud weapon :
Its fcking flamethrower, hot metal catapult bring thrown to river water, CO2, landslide, and his mama

You know that moment when you see someone delightedly decide to jump face first into the worst possible decision they could possibly make? Yeah, that's the last panel in a nutshell. Dude's about to charge a mass of infantry straight into the teeth of a defense in depth. This is...not going to be fun for him.

Nah, the real terror of trench warfare is that the trenches never end. There will be even more trenches behind them that they can retreat to.

Looks bad only if they use swordsman for the charge but if they decide to use cavalry, the trenches would win.
