I think some words are missing on page 32 - translation note speaks about Tokyo Giants, but they aren't mentioned anywhere on the page.

About Zanak's name, maybe the local language has more vowels than Japanese? For example, it could be Russian letter "Я", which in this situation would sound like "a", but make the previous letter produce a "soft" version of its sound.

About the name, I don't believe so, sometimes katakana are not approximation of how the word is written/spelled but how the the word is pronounce, like how ice is aisu (アイス) in katakana instead of iche (イチぇ). So I think Zanak is how Zanuk (or Zanuck so you can see it how) is pronounced.
