The fact that it only slightly resembles a katana is already better than 90% of other isekai. I get it is Japan so, Katana #1, but it is not the perfect weapon for any and all situations. I'm still waiting for an MC to use a war hammer, or a new kind of weapon that isnt too over the top with its seemingly endless amount of functions.

personally I like it when weapons serve function over form. its one of the things I hate the most in mmos is how so many high end weapons look like fantasy impractical bullshit. I mean size, shape, material, I don't care, just make it look like a weapon that would be realistically used. same with armor, shoulder pads bigger than your head? gtfo with that garbage, unless you are a small race where the material legitimately needs to be X thickness to provide protection it looks like crap. certain things like in warhammer 40k, i'm ok with the space marines and art, but when I see normal plat or chain and then I see the epic rainbow colored monstrosity... I hesitate.
