This thread blew up and got more serious than I thought. At least it was entertaining to read while I was on my break at work.
I didn't know Rapeman was so infamous that MD has to remove his credit page. Too bad I missed the drama last year. I do recall seeing some questionable credit page back when I was still reading at kissmanga, before I started getting into translating manga. Might have been from one of his or Kulio's. Or might just be someone else doing the similar trolling.
I'll always side with those who actually provide scanlation for others.
how many people are providing free scanlations to the masses? They are likely only in the hundreds, active to varying degrees.
Just because someone translates a manga and post it for everyone can read doesn't elevate them into superior status. Doing something good doesn't grant you a free get-out-of-jail pass. That's like saying your boss should be free to abuse the hell out of you to his pleasure because he pays you.
Some of these translators are very talented, but they can also be incredibly immature. Given how politics had become a new sex toy for these young people, it's not surprising that we'll see more political contents being injected into things that have zero political elements at all. That's just juvenile and stupid. We'll just have to hope people wise up and have more common sense in what they post. If they cross the line of what should be acceptable, warn them before punishing them. You don't want to attract the bad crowd.
From what I can see, it seems the staff has been very lenient on what contents are posted. Otherwise, whoever translated Pumpkin Night would have gotten the ban hammer already.
Until the guy in question does or says something stupid, his username alone won't be enough to cause him trouble. I took a look at some of his recent uploads, and found nothing outrageous as the other cases. So he's safe. For now. It might just be a troll username, after all. The real question is: where is he now? He surely must know there's thread about his name and people are talking about him. No idea why he stays silent this whole time. Maybe dude is enjoying all this commotion while munching on some popcorn.
I get to be "National_Socialist _German_Workers_Party" or NAZI in short because it would be a political statement.
@Eonlars Not everyone understands German politics, so even if you called yourself a whatever party, most wouldn't care at all.
I might be numbed from playing too much CS GO, but these names are nothing after seeing "The Great Leader Kim Jong Un" or "Hillary's True Form" in that game. I'm not saying that MD should have zero rules at all. But personally, these aren't super offensive to me yet. But if you take a step further and promote anything hateful or incite violent, you deserve whatever is coming.
