$5000/month isn't really "fuck you" money, take home or otherwise, is it? It's good money, but not, "pay a guy full time wages to do essentially nothing" money. If there was an extra zero at the end of her salary, I'd just accept that she's an eccentric rich person, but instead she's upper-middle class and more reckless than eccentric. If she's so essential to her company, and she or her company can offer so many contracts to headhunt the MC, I'd think she'd be making a lot more money anyway.
EDIT: Okay, reading through the other comments, she makes the equivalent of a six figure salary, which makes this seem more reasonable. Still unrealistic, but a little less so.
@Tearsax But that 300k he makes is salary, not take home, so it doesn't include insurance/taxes.
Would be cheaper for her if she just asked him to go out and live with her but why do I look for logic in these types of Manga. This is like paying 3k for someone to be your housekeeper...
@t
that would be great and all. but you do understand that not all tech companies pay that much for an employee, it is a rare case those are for those truly talented ones. most IT people in normal situations only get like 3K a month or less and that is not net. and getting 500K yen net in japan is like getting 10 million yen a year. so equivalent to a 100K salary a year in american terms.
@undulant
getting 60K a year for a mangaka is sometimes kinda already in the area of living normally. again it's great that you live in a society that can offer more than that as salary for a year. but most people won't get a salary higher than what i've posted above.
you do understand that this is already like 11pm to 12 midnight for them. last trains in japan are very late. this is not US where you are home by just 7pm or 8pm in night. so calling a locksmith is far fetched, oh also i noticed your from UK. that would mean that you also get home at that time.
@t dude, please tell me you do realize that the value of a sum of money in each country might be different? In my country for example, 5000usd can be used to live lavishly for more than a year.
