It's Not Meguro-san's First Time - Vol. 5 Ch. 37.5 - Love Every Bit

@pip25

Or he's too empathetic. That can be a thing, you know. When that's the case, it can seem like they don't have empathy because we instinctively think that love is limited in quantity and anyone who is capable of giving it to many people are just faking it, but it probably not the case.

The author genuinely believes he's making a statement about minorities using a guy who's into polygamy.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really care about him, it's just the author trying to justify it is what's annoying.

Polygamy is one thing, this guy just seems to think more binary (can only love or not) and nothing in between lol

@TheGodEmperor I agree.

I think he's actually aromantic and confuses love with enjoying another's company and wanting the best for them. When he said "Koga-san probably won't get me because he can only love one person" I just got the idea that he doesn't even really know what the concept of love really is. As a kid, he immediately accepted that he was the weird one for "loving" more than one girl instead of just trying to understand what it means to to say that. And that transfered into his teen years. Rather, he's just super empathetic and a huge people person. If I'm right that he's actually aromantic, then his pure and innocent playboy personality totally makes sense.

The amount of people shitting on him in this thread is pretty funny. I'm glad we got this side chapter, though. I didn't really get where Yuuma was coming from with a lot of his interactions with the other characters and could only guess at what sort of character he was, really. And while he's not exactly relatable for myself and likely many others, it's clear that his own feelings are genuine ― or, at the very least, I believe that's the author's intent. Which is why it's funny that so many people are bad mouthing his characterization: this chapter is literally pointing at the people who don't understand his type of love and saying, "It's okay if you don't understand; people like this don't need your approval to be themselves."

OMG POLYAMOROUS REPRESENTATION YAAAAAAAS KWEEN YAAAAAS
....
I'm fairly certain he's just on the spectrum considering he always thought like this.

@brandonvu1997 - that's an interesting idea. Before this chapter I just assumed he was poly and an airhead, but this not getting friends thing is way past airhead. It seems like something that could conceivably happen to some confused aromatic kid seeing as society at large still doesn't seem to get that it or asexual can be a thing, or that they're separate things that may or may not go together, so he'd probably never have heard of the concept so had no idea how to think of himself but "weird", which is pretty sad.

Up until now I sort of felt like he's a happy-go-lucky sleazeball, but this chapter really painted him in a completely different light. I finally understand where he's coming from, if only a bit.

@brandonvu1997 I can see that Yuuma might be aromantic, but it's hard to tell. He's super-fearful--just like the main couple--and he's internalized the idea that serious poly relationships are impossible because others will get hurt. Once he has at least one potential partner who wants to get serious, we'll see whether he's like "omg yes I could never say I wanted this" or "whoa, I don't want this."

I have a strong feeling that Sensei was aromantic, though. And he projected that on to Meguro, who might be asexual but definitely isn't aromantic, and things went bad. Don't fuck your students or significant juniors, people! They break too easy! All but the lightest touches leave scars.
