Why tf can't she just say, "hey, I didn't know why I was going to the palace or what prince they were choosing a bride for, so I said I don't want to marry, don't misunderstand my words. If i had known it was you, I wouldn't have said that."
Or, why can't he just ASK her if she really doesn't want to marry him?! Or ask if she even KNOWS who that bride choosing event was for?!
