Not spoiled yet, but I'm thinking the "attack" on page 14 was actually Maou trying to kill one of them. We're supposed to take it to mean she's after the Magical Girl, but I'm betting she's actually trying to kill Jahy.

My theory is Maou gave the Magical Girl her powers and told her to destroy the Demon Realm so Maou could be a neet. Now Jahy is in the picture trying to make her work again and Maou want Jahy gone.

Looked more like she stabbed that light essence that was getting ready to strike the Magical Girl. The essence thing is light and sparkly while Maou's stab attack was dark colored and looked like her hair.
