The kid being a kid is only half the reason Ja took action.
The other half is that those attackers refused to explain the situation.

If they would have stated a justified reason like "That kid actually killed someone." or "That boy stole a really expensive / important item." followed by "If you do not believe us then you can come along with us as long as the kid won't escape." then Ja would have likely agreed to look at the evidence they have.
And once shown the evidence he would not have allowed them to kill the boy but would have investigated / tried the boy with his own dragonic powers to confirm the truth.
As a result he would then have found out:

A) That being is not actually a child and just poses as one.
or
B) The child is actually really a child but possessed by an evil existence like an evil spirit or so.

In case A Ja would have probably immediately dealt with that trickster and in case B he would have looked for a way to exorcise the evil being from the boy while watching over the boy personally to not let that evil being escape.

So in the end the fault lies with those adventurers not explaining the situation and hence appearing like some slave hunters that try to attack an innocent orphan.

Didn't his almighty dragon powers take a big dip after he got turned into a human due to the potion? It was simply not possible for him to see that the kid wasn't really a kid without the use of some kinda voodoo mumbo-jumbo magical powers or anything of the sort.

Use his elder dragon wisdom you say? This is Ja we're talking about, he hasn't been wise even as a dragon or since ever.

Quite irritating when situations like this in so many manga and novels could be done away with if the aggressors just explained themselves.

Yeah, this is all on those adventurers (?) who refused to explain anything. Ja might not always be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he acted appropriately and reasonably in this situation. Adult adventurers trying to kill a young child and then refusing to explain their reasons, that's all them.

In terms of Ja's power, yeah, it took a big dip when he transformed, but IIRC they said his power would gradually come back, and he'd eventually get the ability to return to his dragon form if he wanted? I may be misremembering, but he certainly got more powerful when he got the ability to dragonify his hand.

@KN-XIII: I feel like they could have omitted page 4 so we won't suspect the child being already in control or something (if that was the case).

@never_preorder: They really should not have shown page 4. Why spoil who the enemy really is at the start of the arc. What's the point? It just destroyed the whole arc for me. Unless it's a double twist.

Yupp. Bad foreshadowing. I hope there is a twist or that the child will be dealt quickly with, as...

MC could have already looked through the kid disguise or at least identified him as suspicious. An 11 years old boy, that identified him on the spot as dragonkind. I know he abused his power and gave a hint, but come on. This would be a good hook to hang a whole "I've suspected you the whole time." speech on it.

Also proud, stupid adventurers are stupid. Talk! What would they have gained if they were stronger? The kid would just have started running again and they would have to explain, why they killed/injured two people. Because we hunted a possessed kid and we didn't feel like talking.

Bad jokes aside: Wasn't there a similar manga with the kid, a carriage and evil mass murderer spirit whip summoning person, but he got done in, because once he killed the parents the family curse of the kid wasn't suppressed any longer and evil person got his a*s handed to him?

Honestly, due to reading too much manga and such, if I saw a kid hauling ass around a corner and some people were brazenly and openly chasing them, I'd do what is know as "mind my own f****n business". *shrugs*
