@nobaka I think it was said in an earlier chapter that he isn't really anything special but that she really liked his name so started to harass him. I do think he's probably pretty clever though.

Annoying dude, not wanting to receive anything from her when she genuinely feels like she needs to give him something as an apology. When Valentine's Day comes, Yuriko should just tell him that since he always tries to refuse all of her gifts, she didn't prepare any chocolate for him. And then she should proceed to give chocolate to other people while he's watching. That might teach him a lesson.
