The MC is pretty dense. The animals have been trapped in small cages and enclosures all of their lives, and now many of them also know their whole species are slowly going extinct, due to human actions. It's just like the gorilla said. It's no wonder if they want to slaughter some humans. It's pretty funny the MC is supposedly an animal lover, yet he believes a zoo is a splendid place for wild animals. Anyone with at least a single working eye and a brain can see animals in zoos aren't happy. They aren't any happier than humans in prisons. I have visited a number of zoos, but they are all sad places. The MC is fake. He doesn't love animals, he only wants to control them, wants them to love him because no humans loved him. I hope the elephant tells him that much, but in fact I suspect the author himself doesn't get it.

Just enjoy the manga.
MC made the point that they now have faces but refuse to communicate.
MC loved the animals, he's been tending to hanayo for years its not like he can just release all the animals in the zoo.
IF he did the animals would cause chaos they'd get put down or recaptured and he'd find himself a nice comfy place in prison for 8+ years.
Lastly you're making way too many assumptions just read the manga for what it is.

@relic626 What assumptions do I have to make after 29 chapters? It's up to the animals if they want to communicate with humans or not. They communicate just fine with each other. If you had been rotting in some prison camp for 10 years for no reason of your own but just because you happen to be who you are, would you want to chat friendly with the staff of the camp after you finally escaped the place? Even if there was some dude who occasionally came and played with you, to take a little bit of your absolute boredom away? If you did, you could call it your Stockholm syndrome.

Like I said, the MC had no human friends, he only had the animals. He wanted to love them but even more than that, he wanted them to love him. He probably believed they did.

I never said he should have become a terrorist and release the animals. I'm no animal rights activist. However, it doesn't change the fact zoo animals are often stressed and unhappy. Especially the predators, primates, and such.

I believe I'm reading the manga for what it is. It's about grotesque animal-human hybrids and brutal scenes. The story is nothing to write reviews about and the characters are one-dimensional.
