Can't remember the details, but I remember that the only true good ending in the game is with Cecil as heroine lover. If the heroine ended up with any other capture target, It will either lead to war and destruction. If Cecil doesn't find true love, he would either found passion in war and become a ruthless warmongering tyrant who sees war as sport. Or he'll be infatuated with science and research, eventually lead to the discovery of gunpowder and firearms. The capture target that end up with heroine in those routes end up dead or going to die soon as well. Can't remember which one, but on one route the capture target and heroine was sent to the front line and managed to win a battle with neighboring countries force. The game ended with the fact that even bigger evemy reinforcements coming and them promise to "always be together" of some of that cheesy line. The least bad one is with Cecil's brother as heroine lovers. On that, Cecil becomes the king, but he doesn't interest in doing anything at all. He finally disapear one day and leave his brother as the king instead. It's assume that he gone and die somewhere alone.
