Ok this is just a theory but what if he kills the Queen, uses his clone magic to make a clone of the queen and control her from the shadows for a few years and set up a plan where when the daughter of the queen is finally smart enough to rule, they just kill her off. It seems like it could work honestly. No power struggle whatsoever and they can kill off the son aswell cuz he's an asshole.
