He didn't, he crushed the black bug he fought in chapter one.
Genjuurou crippled himself to take responsibility for Jinbei's failure to protect that one noble's kid, who pissed himself out of fear. Mind you Jinbei was a child back then and had no chance to win so it's a bit bogus, but what can you do.
