Jumyou wo Kaitotte Moratta. Ichinen ni Tsuki, Ichimanen de. - Vol. 2 Ch. 8.5 - The Unspoken Lightness of Being

Bruh
I feel like Chapter 16.5 and Chapter 8.5 are in wrong order
You're not suppose to read this chapter but after reading the ending.

EDIT: I was right.

This precedes the 16.5 chapter, according to vgperson. I agree that it kinda fits better after the ending though.

This guy hasn't sold his lifespan and won't because he thinks selling his lifespan is stupid for the reasons he stated. If his lifespan will sell for a lot, that means his life is just going to go up from here. The girl doesn't seem like his daughter (or at least one he raised), but probably someone he's taking care of for some reason and is definitely the reason he stopped being a conman and the cause for his lifespan multiplying in value.

It's a short story about a guy who has a radically different mindset than Miyagi getting the same offer and rejecting it.

This chapter honestly was the saddest one so far, seeing how MC's life could have been vastly different, because it feels like he wouldn't turn out like this only if he've had someone beside him to support him.

Wow. This made me sad a lot more yet hoping for that slight chance of something will change for the better.

broo this is a fking amaizing way to show how the mc could have turned out if he took things a bit differently and changed his mindset on life

Christ, this series...
In a few chapters, it got me to feel for a character with nothing to live for, nothing to care for and nothing to cling to. Someone utterly alone and without direction in life.
And then in just one it showed just how different that person's life could have been if only he had someone by his side.

"No logic in letting those years go if they're worth that much."

Those are words to live by, definitely. Selling time is not the same thing as selling life, I feel as though life, in this case, is ...potential? Something along those lines. A life may be a life, but what each person does with the life they're given is what sets them apart from one another. Or at least I think so.

You could call this an alternate ending.

Edit: Really, I will re-read this chapter as a salvation if I meet bad ending.

wholesome chapter
with a smart main character (well a conman can't be someone stupid)

it makes my growing anxiety from last ep go away UwU
