@supersankaku Definitely feel like they belong to another noble lady that is jealous that she got the trophy from the Grand Duke, so they see her as "in the way"... I highly doubt it but, it could that those men are from her "family" It seems like they kept the idea of using her as a pawn to propose marriage between them and the Grand Duke but never actually let her be alive to actually marry him. So, with how close they are now it could be that they are targeting her again, but at that seems like to on the nose.

I feel like MC getting assassinated by third party instead of her father is quite likely. The father is an awful human being, but the assassination of his daughter can only bring harm to him.
I think the real scenario is assassinate Grand Duke's bride, claim it was arranged by Duke himself and "accidentally" let some witnesses get away. Now Duke is ousted as a monster and set against Grand Duke; ripe time to claim some lands.

@BlazingMagpie I like your theory, I personally think the duke sent people to kill her after all she is a product of an affair and with the birth of his daughter, he thought to kill her before the secret came out since she would no longer be under his control.

By the by, is the grand duke of higher status?

@supersankaku That's sort of what I was thinking. The only reason I mentioned it could be a noble lady that sees our MC as in the way is because it would sort of fit with the story. The rumors going around about him being cursed/scared/etc. So, mainly a lot people avoid him let alone female suitors. So, a noble lady that "fell in love/obsessed" over him after seeing what he actually looked like underneath that armor, she would see our MC as an eye-sore... Well, that's was my train of thought on it and for all we know it could be that drug addict noble that tried to show her up at the award ceremony.
