So, nobody questions how he managed to barely appear on "camera", nor how the teacher got beaten, now why she would report his intervention. (Then again, I can understand the last one: something like "she doesn't want to admit being defeated one on one".)
In a world where magic and superhuman heroes exist, nobody seems to consider high level stealth as a possibility.

This and the "super risky janitor job" are a bit much of a stretch.

"Janitors get hurt so much, that the level of injuries they get is comparable to front line soldiers against demon armies", of course...

@WhimsiCat The teacher could have asked other examinees if they were defeated by mc, i believe some of them did see mc's face before losing. Maybe, it's a hassle to find them, but it's still possible. I know that teacher argued with examinators, but it obviously lead to no results, it's the least she could do. They have that girl, who fought with teacher, as a witness, that boy, who can testify about his staff being taken, the teacher, a person of authority, who obviously saw herself lose against the person using that same staff. It is almost impossible that they would lie in mc's favour, they simply have no connection to him and between each other, no plots here. So, also taking into account other possible witnesses(the aforementioned students, who lost to mc and can testify to that), there is no reason to think he couldn't defeat the teacher.
@Wyrm I think, they just didn't consider a possibility of student choosing to avoid all cameras for no apparent reason. Also, perhaps, such skill is very rare.
@Nk9bjP4A Maybe that is the only higher educational facility he could get into easily, as his organisation provided everything he needed for admittance. Also, i believe, it's not strictly combat-oriented school, the common course(with black unfiorm) seems to consist only of general subjects, while the hero course is combat-oriented.

Janitorial work can be really dangerous you know?
Lots of work with chemicals both caustic and toxic, dealing with broken lights/windows, some basic electrical work on occasion, slippery floors while using heavy equipment.
Don't even get me started on having to also do grounds-keeping. . .

Yeah, I buy the "I got these scars as a janitor" story.

These are more pointing out the teachers' incompetence than providing good reasons for the result.
"Avoiding the cameras for no apparent reason" is wrong: if your main skill is stealth, how do you demonstrate it aside from avoiding being seen?
"Such a skill is very rare": all the more reason to value it. If that's so rare, enemies might not expect it either. You want to nurture that kind of skill. That makes for great scouts or assassins.
Then again, the MC himself doesn't make any effort to challenge the decision, so there is no telling what would have happened had they been told about it.

@GrayBypasser : The point is that officially there's no record of him showing any actual skill they can evaluate so they can't just give him a pass without proof. (him taking the sniper role to support her IS to avoid standing out)

None besides the guy he took the staff from saw him (we also didn't see how he took his staff, for all we know it's probably another surprise attack that knock the guy out)
And again, why would MC beating other student candidates (again, 90% of them would fail) makes him 'special' in any way? EVERYONE who passed also clearly defeated someone else.

Not to mention THIS IS WHAT HE WANT. Before you want to argue this by your standard the school was 'bad' the moment when he said "um I want to join common course?" They gave him a slap on the back and say "just go in there and go out in a blaze of glory anyway"

@Wyrm Perhaps you should steal the teacher's wallet and maybe kick him in the ass stealthily for them to recognise it. Yeah, clearly they didn't have stealth skills in mind when they set up that exam.
@WhimsiCat defeating other students shows that he indeed was active during the exam and could have faced the teacher. It just serves as a proof of teacher's words that he defeated her. Also, that girl who officialy defeated teacher can also testify for the mc. I just don't see how they could brush it off. Their appointed instructor knows he defeated her and said it, the girl who they recognise as the one who defeated the instructor also says that he played a vital role, there is also circumstantial evidence like that staff. What else do they need to believe that he defeated the teacher? Because defeating her clearly shows his skills, even without camera footage. It doesn't matter what he wants in this case, it is a question of whether or nor him avoiding camera is enough reason for failing the exam.

Except he wasn't failed for avoiding the mirror, hell NOBODY even knew he was doing that. Not the teacher, not the girl.
He failed because the rest of the examiners couldn't find a footage to evaluate him on.

It's like if there's a talent show (or gymnastic if we want to invoke those score cards imagery), and the MC never showed up on stage, then later on one of the judge come in and goes "HE'S AMAZING!"
Guess what, the rest of the judges don't know that, and if they let one other judge influence their decision what's the point of having multiple judges?

For the people who say it's "dumb" to try to keep his identity a secret, it's what he wants. So what if he occasionally does things that contradicts his so-called desire? People are irrational like that. Think about it. If everybody could do exactly what they said they would, then everyone would be a productive member of society, with no need procrastinate and/or to read manga for free on this site. Yet, here we are.

So let's not be too serious about that part of the story, eh?

I totally agree - also it would be a bit more strange if he just refused all her requests as he’s trying to blend in and find a new way of life.
Also what surprised me is that unlike most manga like this he seems to be able to communicate with the people around him and state his desires pretty well and although he still has habits and is a bit emotionless it’s way more natural and realistic in the way he acts than the arrogant or way to enthusiastic protagonist we usually see.

I actually like how they went around with the MC's attitude. He's not going to purposely hide his powers but he will try to avoid situations that might lead to him using them is what I'm getting. He's trying to pursue a normal persons life so a person of average wealth fully knowing the divide in class. This MC is actually aware pf things around him.

No more "AHH I can't show my power infront of x people so I must not even of the cost of lives" cliche

@WhimsiCat Look at the whole situation, apart from having no footage of him, there is clearly enough evidence that he is skilled enough. The ones who defeat the instructor are deemed worthy, as shown in case with a girl, who, after cooperating with mc and winning, was admitted. It's only logical, that the ones capable of such feat are skilled enough, no need for further evaluation. And to prove mc's achievement there are words of the instructor (the only teacher directly involved in the exam and the one who lost to mc and that girl), words of the girl, who was recognized by the examiners(so they know she indeed was there and witnessed the whole situation). It is two unrelated witnesses, who were the only people able to know the whole situation, there is simply no reason not to trust their words. If the footage is evidence of one's skill, then surely the words of the person of authority and a recoginzed student can also be considered as such.
Taking your analogy, it is more if in the talent show a participant was showing his talent under the curtain, and the only one's who could see him were one of the judges and another participant, who already passed. The thing is other judges knew that both the othe judge and participant were capable of seeing his talent, because they were there. So it comes to whether they should consider words of their fellow judge and participant( unrelated to our stealthy one ) true. Using logical reasoning, there is simply no reason to think they are lying, and there is basis to their words.

I would guess most hero course admissions would be done in front of a council. If there is no footage and only the word of one teacher the chance of him getting would be very low. You never know what kind of factions teacher associations have and if someone thought the teacher was trying to get him in on no proof she could lose her job.

ALSO lets ignore everything I just said. There is no one to their knowledge who can hide from these cameras. The only ones seemingly possible would be secret agents they don't know existed. So why would you take the benefit of the doubt and assume the common course entrant is actually a mythical spy?

I think this series is pretty decent and wish it had a more consistent upload schedule. From looking at the raws it seems it's monthly and is currently on chapter 5

Yep here it is the illogical reason so characters have reason to underestimate the mc. They couldve have him do something to prove himself but nope author wants a reason so he can be underestimated.
