Either that, or becoming the power behind the princess perfectly fits his idea of a "shadow eminence".

Of course, given the usual course of things, this is going to backfire and she'll likely end up falling for him after he saves her from some Diabolos plot.

"Pooch" is a colloquial term for dog. Usually for a mongrel dog and used in a cutesy or playful manner. Similar to "mutt". It is not usually used as a generic name like "Pochi" is- an equivalent of which would be "Spot".
