@rennov It was better explained in the novel, while he pulls off this move it's explained that is not magic unable to be used, but it's being heavily suppresed.

Normally for a magician it would've impossible to use magic, but since he entered the temple he's been tempering his mana and stalling until he could use it (And he could pull that off because of his mana control)

heh, while there are more arcs before it than I remembered, I am happy to see someone else agree that the arc it bad Though I suppose that is only natural when the arc is one of those "lets leave all characters already established and restart elsewhere". Even combined with "MC must fight his allies through some contrived way!"

edit: btw, I dropped it after that arc finally finished, but did the following arcs get better again?
