I really want to like this series' plot, because the art style and character designs are very good, and anything with the tags shoujo, romance, drama, and psychological is typically also quite good, but I really do not understand the plot at all.

Read the novels! The story is different and actually makes sense. It's amazing.
The manga is kind of meant to be read after the novels btw
