You know you’re stupid when your boss praises your subordinate and you still don’t acknowledge how indispensable he was. Literally Everyone with a brain: Dariel was the most valuable member we need him back The mother freaking Demon King Dariel was your most valuable member Stupid’s Dad: Dariel was my most valuable member Stupid: I’m gonna fire Dariel and never invite him back.
I can kinda see that Stupid has an inferiority complex because his dad probably chose to love Dariel more than him (or it seemed that way to him). My thing is You’d think he’d at least learn to be a better person by now. He’d be dead and stripped of all his power if the Demon King chose physical torment over mental. But nope. He’s still the stupid guy that blames his subordinates for all of his mistakes.
@Azif Maybe it’s all a game to him? Or the other demons wanted it so he just went along for the ride? It seems to me that he doesn’t care that much about winning. If he did he’d force them to bring back Dariel (who he acknowledges was more useful than a current heavenly king), or he’d care more about potential nuke level weapons, or he’d put someone competent in charge. It seems like the heavenly kings are largely running the war and the demon king couldn’t care less (it just seems like if he was in charge the war would be won by now). I could be wrong though; I would say we could definitely use a lot more explanation on why two intelligent species are at war and the Demon King’s character.
I thought stupid was on top of the food chain, he doesn't look like an apex predator but I thought the manga was going for the "dumb boss antagonist " vibe but I'm glad I was wrong. It is not as interesting when the bad guys' boss is just dumb.
I hope this manga doesn't disappoint.
@Azif it isn't an absolute monarchy and he has to be political sometimes too. Maybe he knew and let certain things happen in the hopes that it leads to true peace. The Heavenly King of the West might have known he was human all along as well as the demon king. Dariel has the heart to understand that demons and humans are very much alike due to his upbringing.
It's funny because his dad was most likely training Dariel and giving him more attention simply so he could work instead of his son.
Kinda like how a noble would raise someone as a 2nd son so they can send them to war instead of their firstborn.
