Honestly fuck the mc, he’s betraying the people he’s known his entire life for a handful of people he’s just met. Like they did treat him nice, but was there really nobody he liked in the demon kingdom? Dude must have been super lonely back then.

We don't know the full backstory of the MC, and from we can tell from bits and pieces, he's basically has had a shit life working for the demon kingdom. He was relegated the lowest position, did all the things behind the scenes to keep the army afloat, and the thanks he gets is an immediate dismissal from the only job he knew how to do. Hell, he was even surprised to hear that Rizeto thought of him as a friend.
He could have very well been a lonely person.

Also, it does help when the MC sees directly the fruits of his labor, the fact that he is actually an OP SOB, and people appreciating the things he does for people. In the demon kingdom, it seems like his efforts were barely recognized or even thanked.

That's what I concluded on. He always felt like a fish out of water in the demon kingdom. Also, he doesn't seem to have that much loyalty to the demon kingdom to begin with anyways.
So, personally, I don't see it being as wack as it should be.
