Depends on the cat. Some get bored quickly, others never. Mine love the teqser thing, but not so much lasers. Lasers also are not the best toy. The cat can never "win" with them, so they tend to either ignore it, give up, or get pissed at it.

You might be able to prevent frustration with a little LED+resistor+battery in a clear plastic ball, so the cat can catch the dot, but it takes a bit of electronic engineering to make it so the light only stays on for a few seconds or so, and can be activated with an impact. Then after you buy all of the components, you'll find ads for them for $2 at the local pet store or some BS.
