You can totally drink elemental mercury in small quantities, although it'll give you the runs. I doubt slimes evaporate, so there'd be no issue with the vapours, which are the real threat.

they are in the city for her to try and tame a type of monster bird that migrates by once a year and are VERY hard to tame, as well as valuable. She gets a bunch (I think 8, might be more) including a VERY rare variant, also Ryoma gives her a couple slimes when they leave town, including one of his healer slimes

Yeah, if you think about it, those slimes have the potential to be terrifying monsters. A weakpoint they can move around, a body that can slip through anywhere and eat anything, and the ability to multiply just by eating.
