I feel about the same. Definitely nothing 'edgy' or dark, but it's a good read imo. Especially nice to mix things up if you otherwise read darker/ecchi-er/etc. things.
Nothing groundbreaking (at least so far) but I think it's a nice read. Almost feels more like a 'break' than some others, even when comparing to other ones I absolutely love. Just a simple, lighthearted story.

Is it ever explained why the DAD (the MC's) and Earth's God were such assholes and their reasoning for doing what they did to the MC?

@sleepymonkey yes it does, it was explained in recent chapters when Ryouma thought of his dad and in the 1st/2nd chapter when Ryouma was just transferred, albeit short explanation. This information is from the old version.

Ryouma's Dad only live to forge katana, he doesn't want a family because that would hinder him from making katana. But, he was required to have a wife and a son to continue the family dojo. So when he was "given" a wife and a son, he only fulfills the bare minimum responsibilities like house, clothes, food and Ryouma's education until Ryouma is capable to be his own man.
For the God of Earth's behavior, nothing was ever confirmed. He did it on a whim, so to speak. The other clue is every otherwolders from Earth have a growth spike that will affect their magical, mental and physical abilities. This growth spike is caused by the God of Earth's influence, maybe he wants to take over Sailfall using the otherworlders. Yep, in short, he's an asshole.
