Kannou Sensei - Vol. 3 Ch. 18

So I'm confused. She only was interested in him because she thought he was married? Clearly she likes him from the tears, but what does her being a divorcee have to do with anything if she only pursued him because she thought he was married. Now if she was married then maybe I could understand her motive. Wanting to cheat on her husband with someone else who is married, but she's not.

@jak
She only was interested in him because she thought he was married
No. She's interested even before she thought he's married.

And my guess is that her saying that she's a divorcee is just her trying to make herself look bad.

@jak

I think she still likes him, but she's confused as to whether she was more interested in him if he was married. And because of that she thinks she's a bad match for him cause she might want to be an adulterer.

@AfterMidnightMoon

I thought she always believed he was married though. She saw him at the festival before he saw her. And she saw him with his nieces.

She was so interested in him that she had sex with him even though she thought he was married. If he had been married, they would have both been guilty of having an affair, and she could have kept on with it, if poisoned by mutual guilt. But he wasn't--so now she knows, that he knows, that she's someone who would have been willing to commit adultery to get the man she wanted. She is deeply ashamed of this fact and doesn't want to face him.

@jak The first time she saw his niece was right after their first kiss when she was looking for her charm at a shrine, so she hadn’t thought he was married from the beginning. She played really hard to get in the beginning chapters and I think that was because she felt unworthy of his love, being a recent divorcee. When she had that misunderstanding that he was married with kids she was shocked and angry—still attracted to him, but she kept distance between them. It was only after she heard of his past sordid affairs that she took the plunge and decided to try having a casual, no-strings attached relationship. Probably because she decided his past was just as bad as hers.

i kinda missed this... i have such a love/hate relationship with this manga and yet i cannot find myself to stop reading... what is this?

I think we're missing the whole "ex-divorcee within half a year ago" angle. She might be afraid of love right now. She might have even gone into this love expecting to get the same result because she just wanted the good parts. I personally think she's scared it all might turn out to be lies. And the only thing that might come close to telling her it's not is our good sensei's earnest writings.

@Purplelibraryguy Ditto. I guess it's a bit complicated, but maybe she thought that because he was married and was willing to have an affair, she wasn't feeling as shameful as she would be in any other relationship because she recently got divorced and they would both share that guilt.

@knildea Yeah . . . Assuming she actually did recently get divorced. I'm feeling a bit uncertain about that. Not that I'd mind or anything, I'm just trying to fit it into the rest of what little we know of her and feeling half like it fits very well and half like it doesn't fit at all.

It's an unusual line of work that in which "man, I really wanna jack off right now" is considered to be a compliment.

I'm really enjoying this series. Narumi is so pathetic it's entertaining. I hope the author doesn't screw it up.

As good as it seems, I don't think it'll have an end where they are together. Something may twist and turn; Yukino might find her a passion, Narumi's love could possibly become fatherly, who knows.
