I can understand taking the plushie, it's just to make sure she sleeps off her illness instead of staying up and playing. A little over-dramatic but I can understand the sentiment.

Also, Chi specifically wanting a contest instead of just getting another manju was so adorable!

It serves two purposes, first it allows (forces) the kid to sleep and the other if the child is sick it allows the mother to wash it clean instead of the child recontaminating themselves.
