You could have argued early on that Nishikata was a bit of a loser; but having a fitness habit and impressing a girl with your jogging, then she turns up with a drink just to watch the sun set with you, is pretty Chad stuff.
@seitsuki I've been single for 20+ years and just found my first gf who's also having me as her first bf. We're at it as if we're 14 years olds. (no, she's not 14)
she has fluffy hair like Kumiko from Euphonium, childish at one side like Botan from that wolf manga.
At this point you'd say "nice delusion, anon" but that's the reality.
Well If nishikata had taken a selfie instead of a normal picture and acted all smug while at it he may have gotten the sense of victory he wanted but since it was just a normal picture of course he lost...
@Fri "They're in middle school, so at least 14, and you know what's the wackiest part?" — yes, they're in middle school, and Nishikata's shirt says "2-1" i.e 2nd year = 8th grade (the manga earlier went back and forth in time with them being in 1st or 2nd year, but now it's probably settled to keep up with the anime). So they're most probably 13 — maybe 14, but not "at least".
They are both 13, maybe Nishikata is 14 +/- several days (he is Cancer, as it was revealed several times already, and this chapter obviously takes place in early summer, so his birthday is around the corner), and it's a beautiful time for the first love. This manga feels so real and natural it almost hurts. I wonder where my first (of course, unrequited) childish love is right now, we got lost in 6th grade as she transferred schools. Yes, we was like, 10, and that couldn't be even called "love", but I still remember that girl even now, almost 20 years after.
@tsuu Best wishes, mate. I really hope both of you will be alright together.
P.S. I wonder if Takagi plans to actually confess to him at his birthday. She doesn't even tease him anymore like it was, she just wants him as her boyfriend.
