I wonder if it's because of the high amount of convenient, cheap restaurants everywhere in Japan, plus all the grocery stores selling bento, providing heating for the dish as well, that many of the manga authors seems to possess a false impression that even basic cooking is really difficult.

@Kaarme you’d be surprised to know, that while cooking for the first time (from the scratch, ie. raw materials) it’s actually tough (especially for those who don’t even know the proper technique to cut/chop/slice)
I know cuz I was the same 5years ago, although after getting the hang of it, it’s pretty easy(the basic stuff). Although it’s easy to forget some techniques after abandoning it for a while, but it’s not as bad as “not edible”, I guess

@ArpanaR What am I supposed to be surprised about? It's not like I'd have been born knowing how to cook. I had to learn it the same as everybody. However, it would be hard to ruin stuff to the point of it being inedible if you try to even remotely follow the instructions and pay attention.
