@Perim Being a legal adult and an being an independent adult are two separate matters. Probably a lot of "You wanna live in my house, you follow my rules" sort of stuff to go around for these "adults." Half the people Shin knows are also from noble families of some sort, that kid in particular comes from a family of knights, but he wanted to go to school for magic because of the girls. Can you really say his parents shouldn't be imposing some sort of limitation on him to at least make sure he excels at what he's doing if it's for such a stupid reason, considering they're still supporting him?
