I like how Japan is often evil in Korean manhwa, and Korea doesn't exist in Japanese manga.

Kinda lame how they grab the everyone around the hero is good trope and revert it instead of making it a mixed bag. It's unrealistic that everyone is friendly and loves the hero but it's even weirder when everyone is a backstabbing asshole

This is because, historically, Korea has been invaded by Japan on several occasions, the most egregious being during WWII.
As far as Japan is concerned, Korea is likely just viewed as 'the mainland' and no more thought put in to it, but this bit is just conjecture on my part.
