Oh, that's a neat double-twist that somehow is pretty sweet in retrospect? They just need an excuse to talk to each other I guess. The final twist would've carried stronger if the "bad candy" part was revealed earlier, but as-is it leaves a more complex, mingled bad-good feeling. Judging by the other entries in this anthology the latter was intended, so success there.
