Iska's just straight-up enjoying this.
The score dropped buy 0.08 ponts since last chapter 8.25->8.17. Gonna admit this was the worst chapter of the series along with ch 18. The last 2 chapters crushed the series for me. Has the authors mind went nuts. Well alice and our boy were expected to think similarly right. What happened to that!! And what trust can be there now!!

I just had to comment here, because of Rin's horrific behavior. I see I'm not the only one upset by her betrayal. While spouting nonsense about Iska being the biggest threat to a dream of world unification, she seems to miss out on the fact that she is actually the biggest threat, herself. Anybody that would use a truce (and the letting down of one's guard as a result of it) as an excuse for an ambush will make it so that nobody will trust future truces. If peace is to be achieved, on a permanent basis, then the ones pushing for that peace need to show themselves to be utterly trustworthy, even when the other side isn't. Rin, while claiming to support Alice, has stabbed Alice in the back repeatedly, and realistically needs to be severely punished (if not killed) for the dream to become reality, as she is too corrupt/untrustworthy, to ever believe in peace. Since Rin would always use a truce as an opportunity to backstab, she will assume the other side will, too, and never trust them, thus always looking for a way to "attack/betray before being attacked/betrayed". Rin, and people like her, are the reason these two side are still at war.
@throwaway4ccount It's because Rin doesn't truly wish for peace; she wishes for a complete victory for Nebulis. If all opposition is utterly destroyed, that would technically be peace. Which makes her an awful person, and Alice too for going along with the kidnapping.

Wow. This went downhill so quickly.
He's a fucking prisoner of war, they called a truce drugged, captured, made him into a political prisoner and then they tried to fucking KILL HIM, and they're treating it like it's a school trip; I thought this manga would treat the material within itself with at least some of the weight it deserved, my mistake. I'm really hoping this gets back on track, or the LN is better, because if this is what I have to look forward to I won't be sticking around.

Man, this story’s real lucky it has its central romance, cause this chapter was kinda stupid.
Okay, so the MC’s crew is heading to Alice’s kingdom to rescue him. For one thing, I have no fucking idea how none of them didn’t immediately realize that the Captain’s Mark was the real thing. Secondly, that actually worked? How long have they been at war? Are developing fake marks just some new technology or something cause if not, why didn’t the Empire just use that to gather information?
On the other side, wow, Rin, what the fuck. Look, it is kinda Ishka’s fault for not checking if his drink is drugged, but at least he acknowledged that. Also, the kidnapping happened in neutral territory, where I thought war was forbidden. But now Rin wants to kill the dude because... that’ll help, I guess. Man, I really don’t like her.
The most disappointing thing though was Alice’s attitude through all this. Why isn’t she fucking furious right now? Doesn’t she like the dude, why is she treating this so nonchalantly? I don’t get it. Didn’t they want to work together to create a peaceful world? They can’t do that if they themselves can’t m trust each other because one kidnapped and drugged the other. It sucks because it’s undermining the relationship they have - which is really the only thing I’m reading for, as it was doing that well but now that’s in jeopardy.
Please turn it around.

Well, i would like to see how will the mc react to this in future chapters, he should really be upset/furious. I hope he is looking some opportunity to escape. If he just forgives there behaviour i have no hope for this manga. And what the hell is alice doing!!

@Koni well, for one, the only one in that squad that doesn't know that the captain's mark is the real thing is that researcher.
that fake mark thing seems to be something their side uses frequently, what they brought here is just the latest iteration that's not as hard to detect as the previous iteration.
and well, i thought rin being a stupid bitch ain't nothing new.
she just fits right into the heroine's lez friend trope, and they doesn't really operates on sound logic.
also, imo, unlike our mmc, it feels like alice is only fascinated with our mmc, but doesn't really respects him yet, for lack of better term.
so rather than respecting his wishes, she just wants to keep him by her side, so this whole incident should feel like a happy little incident for her.
seems like growing up as some kind of royalty, in contrast to mmc humble life, is the biggest factor for this difference.

or why shes the group leader
shes the most useless sack of shit i have ever seen and thats probably why the author retconned those fuckin whirpools to turn her into a semi useful flashlight
im really glad that the author isnt wasting 19 chapters on that shit romance while completely neglecting the rest of the cast or anything haha
we havent even seen them fight once
they might as well stop showing them at all because they can barely be considered characters
or why shes the group leader
