Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet - Vol. 9 Ch. 56 - Romio, Julio, and Airu II

I'm still keeping Romio even though I feel a little bit uncomfortable. I prefer to stick to Kodansha's English naming convention to prevent any further issues.

I'll explain a bit about why Romio is taken to be legitimate. Inuzuka's name is in kanji (露壬雄), which is pronounced Ro-mi-o. It sounds like Romeo but isn't, and isn't meant to be more than a reference to the name "Romeo".

You can argue that we should keep to Romeo because Juliet's name is Juliet, not Jurietto (from ジュリエット). But it's not about keeping it as a parallel structure. The reason why Juliet is Juliet is because it is in katakana, which suggests that it is a foreign name and should be treated as a foreign name. Whereas, Romio is not a foreign name but an actual Japanese name.

By the same logic you would inadvertently be saying that Hasuki (狛井) should be treated as Husky because it sounds like Husky and is meant to be a reference to "Husky".

Plus, this might not be a good idea because his name is actually shown in the manga. I do not believe in "consistency" if we end up being consistently wrong.

It's clearly what the author intends and as such, what I will try my best to convey to readers.

Note: This is not on the English translation, this is on the Japanese raw.

Im loving this arc... this can only get better and better from now on... so hyped for the next updates...
thank you so much @kinji

tbh since their both from influential families and the fact that Inumom and catdad knows each other they can arrange a political marriage for Romio and Juliet

I really like that they didn't come up with shitty excuses and are willing to face the situation like that.

Also, with that explanation, "Romio" instead of "Romeo" does make more sense. It's nice when a translator can back up his decisions with actual logic and facts instead of "lol I just felt like doing it".

Keep up the good work.

Also back when Romio is dealing with Somali he calls himself "ro-may-o" Romeo.

anon has a solid reason to choose "Romio" it actually makes sense the author did it that way, a clever solution and awesome that anon respects the author's idea. Thanks for the chapter fella.

Why does it sound like Airu inherited a completely different will from the letter Romio got?

Waiting for the next chapter is going to be torture. I sure won't be able to concentrate on my job now, nevertheless thank you for the updates.

Thank God!...
We don't have to wait for another month for the next release thanks to this Scanlation war or whatever you say it( atleast "confused" consider it as a war though)

@Kinji
Good. I actually like this. I hate it when translators try to ignore the proper translation of a name whether it be due to Japanese pronunciation and how they don't have some letters we do or something else entirely. Reading Luka as Ruka or such.
