so possibility #1 the tanuki is actually a guy...a trap...mildly ironic given that he's also an assassin
possibility #2 the husband simply said something along the lines of "tanuki-kun" and the TL chose poorly to translate it as mr. tanuki when it wasn't actually meant in a gender specific tone, but rather as a sort of mildly derogatory tone given the ease with which he saw through the tanuki's disguise (if this is the case, that does NOT mean the tanuki isn't a trap, it would merely mean no official gender reveal at all yet)

@DazarGaidin knowing there is some sort of enemy around. prepare some trap just in case, why it's strange ?
