What a lame, annoying and childish schpiel from this guy. Dude gets enough of an explanation that gives him enough information to ask the question "Wait, what is actually going on here, am I in the wrong, there might actually be more here happening than I know" and he immediately goes for childish and completely subjective platitudes.

Latest example is the rapist/murderer Yasumasa Shibuya, who escaped even death sentence despite raped and murdered a 6yo girl. They even had hard time making him confess, despite finding Yasumasa's DNA on victim's body, as well as victim's DNA on Yasumasa's car.

@instant_noodle you do realize that he (Shibuya) still got a life sentence, right? And since when is "we couldn't get him to confess" an indictment of the court? The whole point of a trial is to determine guilt whether or not the accused confesses, because most criminals, in all countries, don't confess unless they'll get a lighter sentence out of it.

In case you're brand new to the concept of laws, I'll break it down for you: all halfway-decent legal systems assume that those implementing them might be wrong sometimes. I.E., you don't just convict someone because a cop decided they're guilty; you hold a trial. You don't just immediately execute someone as soon as a court finds them guilty; you allow for appeals in case the court made a mistake. And in the case of life imprisonment instead of capital punishment, if there is any remaining room for doubt at all, you choose the sentence that could be undone if it turns out you convicted the wrong person while the real murderer is still at large. Because the reality of the matter (and not just the emotional knee-jerk reaction) is that laws are supposed to exist to protect the innocent, not to sate the bloodthirst of the vengeful (no matter how justified they feel). And life imprisonment is just as effective at keeping a criminal away from society as killing them is.

The fact that so many commentors think condemning vigilantism is "childish" instead of sane is disappointing, but not surprising.

So, in the case of Yasumasa Shibuya, you stated that "you do realize that he (Shibuya) still got a life sentence, right", which implying your stand point that is "life sentence will do enough justice in this case, and more severe punishment is not required". So, I ask of you, if that is your point, then that means you think kidnapping, raping and killing a 6yo kid doesn't deserve death sentence? Again, the goal is to protect innocents, and that includes the falsely accused, even if that means having a criminal spend the rest of their life in a cell instead of getting it over with quickly. And do you know what tends to happen to pedophiles in prison?
