I love that it's not that Chiyo is a genius at cooking, but she's dutiful about it in ways that make a lot of difference. She takes time to get the best ingredients she can from the right shops, and make home-made items like this. And then in earlier chapters we've seen plenty of her trying to figure out the best food for everyones' stamina and strength. She works hard, and puts her heart into it. That's what's the most admirable thing, I think.

Also their Mother watching the plums is cute... I bet it makes a nice fragrance. And you can kind of mark the seasons that way.
