Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House - Vol. 15 Ch. 155 - A New Town

@toothbrush I will laugh if it turns out that this cafe is part of the kabuki school and the theoretical male best friend of Kenta is the male version of Suu-chan.

Kenta: "Step one to getting closer to Kiyo, be part of a kitchen. Step two, be the kitchen itself!".

Is apprenticeship strong in Japan? If so then if he get good recommendation, he could get any job he could get.

Kiyo's first reaction when brought to a new area is too gush over the food stores. How cute.

1k yen is about USD10, that’s pretty cheap for restaurant dining. I guess they’re still high schoolers though.

I feel like the epilogue (if the author writes one) might be something like "Kiyo and Kenta work together at a nice warm restaurant that Sumire often visits and lives nearby".

ah, a cook
I don't remember a single time where he cooked, but yes that seems to fit that manga

ohh Kenta can cook? It fits, though we haven't seen him do it (that I can remember). I guess he'd start of as a dishwasher or prepper though, I doubt they'd take a high schooler on instantly as a cook at a place like that

This level of communication is getting pretty ridiculous. They're supposed to be good friends. Why can't they justvtalk normally?

@Vmpslushie Talk normally through what? The Geisha house doesn't allow males to get in and cell phones. Both Suu and Kiyo doesn't have cell phones so they can't call Kenta. And Kenta is in the middle of work, he can't just come out and greet them.

"Demiglace. Fancy sauce. Just replace it with ketchup."
I can already imagine an horde of french zombie chefs rising from their graves...
