Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House - Vol. 9 Ch. 92 - About the Kimono

This chapter reminds me that although suu-chan's passion is to become a geisha, it's sad that kyo has to just hang out as support for her friend. Even if that's what she wants to do, it's still kinda sad since she seems to really like her hometown as well.

@livesofflight
Chapters like this always make me wonder about Kiyo's economic situation. If she's being fully paid as a caterer proper or is considered a "trainee" like the other girls and has all her expenses paid in the meanwhile but that's about it. Or if her life is as heavily regulated like the other girls' are. Things like that.
I'd worry more about her future but she'll be able to make something with her mad cooking skills already.

@Midoriha
It seems that she just gets a regular allowance like the girls. She says in the pudding a la mode chapter that she bought pudding with her allowance, and during the Valentine's Day brownie chapter she didn't have money to buy or make anything until she found that department store voucher.

They are underage but already drinking cider. I guess being a maiko has its perks, even if they are few.

@Midoriha Haha, back at KM I almost got lynched for talking about it a few times. To avoid repeating myself, I eventually stopped. Aside from that, I always thought it would have been good for her to attend a cooking school or gain a formal education through apprenticeship and taking some exams (if that's possible in Japan). Now she's basically getting work experience, which is naturally good, but formally she will still be inferior to someone who has got a diploma, depending on the place and person viewing her CV.

I think the author made a mistake on page 8. The mother called her momohana before she actually received that name.
