Such a great series. I'm a bit confused exactly on the last few panels if it was the mother who died or if it was one of their relatives, but I think that's the point, because to a kid, it would all just seem like a confusing mess that would seem like a jumbled assortment of memories.

I got that two. I think that it symbolizes how he views himself in the same state as he would a child in that moment, being small and naive to the world, and unable to properly understand the situation. @Satans_Cookie_Mallet

@Tamerlane it seemed to be doing flash fowarding, and going back to where he was a kid to show bits about how his mother cared for him, and flash forwarded to how it affected his adulthood.

I think him as a child holding the ashes was meant to symbolize something but I can't seem to think of what it could be.

The last chapter is supposed to reference the title. I think there is also a lot of symbolism between Satoru carrying his mother's ashes rather than the tablet or the portrait. He regresses into a kid because he misses his mom. You know that saying, "it makes me feel like a kid again". I guess that's the gist of it. Kinda happy that his dad and brother are there for each other though.

@animekek69 looks like she had cancer, was on chemotherapy, and then stopped. That hat is a normal kind for covering the hair loss but she has short hair, meaning that she pretty much gave up and stopped the treatment.
