What obligation does Nao have to tell him about his own feelings about Izumi before telling the person herself? Break friendship? He already asked him if he had any feelings, he said no and never showed anything
He liked spending time with her, he mustered up the courage to confess unlike him who pretends otherwise.
Nao is not the reason he never confessed, he just didnt have the balls and got embarrassed instead. The manga couldnt have made it more clear for you mate. Nothing was stolen away.

God I fucking HATE Naohiko. I fucking disgust Naohiko too much. Too much. I loved him in the prologue. I loved him from every single aspect. Now, he's just a bully. He went from a simpleton to some *chad* that appears to be huge and seem big and keeps on hurting Eiji. Damn Nao you're lucky I'm not there. I could punch you down in a few blows. I'm older and bigger than you and am pretty confident in my ability from martial arts myself.
Eiji was really asshole backthere(and now) even Izumi confess to him he just drove her away he never tried to confess he had "a lot" of chance but never do . No one hurt him except himself
