@bandito - they are middle school kids, 12-15 years old. While her feelings are exaggerated for comedic effect, its unlikely for her to be fully aware of them in a world of confusion.

Many people live their lives thinking they are “normal” and them being “normal” means they like “normal” things and they ignore their own self. The notion of the false “normal” has many people trapped until early and late adulthood.

Also she may not even be gay, shes a child after all.
