It's always annoying when people complain about a chapter while seemingly ignoring every chapter proceeding it. MC's magic is just unique magic, not a win button. He can't revive the dead, he can't insta-kill powerful monsters, he can't stop people from being stupid, and if he is careless with how he uses it the magic will backlash at him.
For example, if he tried to use the word(s) for "Die" or "Kill" and it backlashed he would probably die, if he tried to use a two or three word spell and it backlashed he would probably die, it's not that complicated.
Don't forget that his more powerful spells are the ones with more words, and those take more magic power and time to use, so even if he wanted to use them, and he's been trying to avoid using 3-word spells if he can, he would need time, and the bears rushing at the big bad bird monster, would give him like 3 seconds which he couldn't have managed at this point.

@Leo80221 And yet the MC has no problems snapping word magic on people to make them more powerful or completely altering the form of another. Sorry, but this arc ending just smacks of lazy/bad writing rushing through everything and glossing over some important details, unless the author really wanted to portray the MC as some kind of cold-hearted pseudo villain (which I doubt was the case). He literally stood there and didn't raise a finger to prevent anything that happened. Then, when the family was killed, he practically did the same thing as handing a kid a gun and said, "You can kill them and get your revenge" - That's kinda really messed up. We know MC can fight, he's done so before, and yet...
Also, remembering the story up to this point, MC already said he was going to help out
, but then doesn't do anything himself when the time comes to actually help? It was all a pretty forced event to kill the family and get another loli member into the team (who either got over the death of her family really quick or MC's magic lasts a long time). It's all just kinda... blah.

I feel like those bears could've used some of that buff magic as well. The kid sure recovered from seeing her family get murdered pretty fast, too. Also, what was everyone else doing, just sitting there with their fingers stuck up their asses? There's a limit to how forced something can feel ffs.

Yeah... I mean I'm sort of confused, I think part of it is how this adaption made the fight appear. The little bear just gets one tapped and insta-died - the Mom isn't just wounded but also corrupted since the fight before, so I guess the kamikaze move was sorta justified. I think not having Hiro's internal thoughts analyzing anything left us feeling aimless. Like him thinking "Protect!!-" and the word not being able to be formed fast enough would've been fine to me. And maybe the Novel addresses this by saying something like "Before Hiro knew it, Ikki had already been struck". Here it just feels like everyone is standing around in shock. Hiro claims he's going to do something but doesn't really do much and it's pretty awkward how he starts giving a speech to the Loli mid-fight.
I also don't understand at all why he decided to morph their bird into human form.

tbf it feels more like the family died so the loli could join without felling the regret of abandoning her family.
on those novel for sure you can't have her going alone and be worried about her family back home.
