I used to think this was just a funny manga with crazy game mechanics, maybe inspired by some obscure indie Japanese MMORPG. Then I learned that the Final Fantasy online games launched broken AF. They didn't understand what MMORPGs were and just wanted to compete with WoW, so they tried to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. It went wrong. This honest mistake could be interpreted as masochist game developers like in the manga.

@undercurses probably cause it was coded wrong, just like how it has 3m of reach but is only 1m long. It is an odachi that is as easy to handle as a katana. I did have that same question, but thats the only bs I can think of


Is manga only translated when a new volume comes out? I seen that they are on like chapter 34 in the raws.
