Feels like the mangaka lost interest in the title and wanted to give it a conclusion quickly instead of having to work on it longer. It's fine as an ending. A bit rushed, but not bad. You get what you expected.

Maybe it wasn't supposed t get that far? The prince would interfere and then she'd probably help find some documents leading back to the villainess at the hut if it was her?
Since MC made her run away she probably changed the course by accident so that the prince wasn't following her.
