Haha what? This dude was about to go on a crime spree with these people, and his partner just so happens to come in at the last moment and be okay with it? Willing to overlook what he just tried to do but still ad hearing to the fact that they are partners so she has to protect him? There is no logic in this, and this fight was dragged out way too long for my taste. Not to mention the MC lived to be the top red magician and this guy is more skilled than he is? I understand if the MC just went around one shotting everyone that would be a boring story, but to say hes more skilled than you are? This story has gone downhill.

They cut it off at a bad point to piss people off, but she's not protecting him. She's simply going to take care of his punishment personally.

At least in the novel, she intended to put him through hell by infesting him with extremely painful and near-lethal magic-eating parasites and locking him up on a criminal island. Keep in mind the guy is a "Dispatched Magician" which means it was originally his job to toss people into that criminal island. So he won't be able to use magic, will be practically crippled from pain, and he'll be thrown together with a shit ton of dangerous criminals that hate his guts.

and, IMHO that was a good timing for her to stop the fight. if zeff kill him the blame for killing a mage from the mage association will be put on him. how they know that zeff is the killer, i don't know, magic maybe. If he spare him, Azalea would take Grain to receive his punishment as they have i witness and prove now.
Then again i do hope that grain is tortured for his life and get a miserable death. Just killed off right there is too much of mercy.

It's better if the corrupt enforcer is taken into custody and judged appropriately. That way he'll be remembered as a rotten apple and possibly at least some of his previous crimes would be revealed. If he had died here, they might have even made him simply an officer killed in action honourably.
