There must be some kind of foreshadowing and important information thrown here in this chapter, but all of that just flew over my head at the end.
I just can't get over the fact that the queen is a freaking pedophile lesbians.

Thank god that she doesn't have any granddaughter.

like always the grandparents know their shit and also know how to get what they want....also is it me or grandma is kind of lesbo...i mean she wanted iris mama, she couldnt get iris mama so now she goes for iris...wait, is that being lesbo or just overly obssesed with a bloodline?

Resume of the chapter: Grandma wanted the mom and after she didn't get it, she moved to the daughter. Honestly, it's a bit creepy how she has a picture/painting of Mellice and also joined their name to form Iris name, but if she's helping our girl, then I don't mind so much.

I'm so happy that Dean/Alfred is starting to love Iris! It's so cute and I really look forward to see what it's going to happen between them.

Yuri continues to be the most powerful gold-digger of the kingdom - I think that even the concubine loses to her.

I wouldn't say grandmother was a lesbian or obsessed or anything of the like, she was enraptured. Mama-Iris charmed her, and that charming made youngrandmother covet mama-Iris. Now, as humans, when we covet another person we do tend to want skinship with said person; which could be construed as lesbian. However, I doubt her gender had anything to do with it.
This is why grandmother doesn't covet Iris, she's not gay for her. She just thinks that Iris, having the beauty of her mother, deserves to be in the Royal line. Perhaps maybe she wants her line to have their bloods mixed together? It would mean the same thing, in the grand scheme.

Also, glad to see the other royals notice Dead-Ed and his Trollop are rather bullshit. But, somehow he holds more royal authority than the first prince? I'm not sure why. Unless the King decreed something to the effect.

She really really wanted Mellice as her Daughter-in-law, but as it turned out doing so would end up doing far more harm than good politically. So instead she set her sights on getting Mellice's daughter as her granddaughter-in-law.

@Vasqueztion I don't think Ed holds more royal authority than the first prince. I think his insane proposes are approved just because his mother family and those that follow them have more positions in the government of the country than those that support the first prince.

This chapter could've been 3 pages, and could've featured the MC as well. But noooo, let's just have a creepy backstory chapter, where nothing actually happens.

I guess I wouldn't have been so disappointed, if I could just read the next chapter immediately. This just feels like an empty chapter.

Ok since I've read the WN I feel qualified in speaking about things here.

First the reason why Alfred is incognito, it's all three of the listed reasons at the end, his full name is Alfred Dean Tasmeria. He uses the middles name to move around in the shadows. The second prince's mom was from a higher ranking family than the first prince's mom and the king marrying caused a shift. She passed away under unknown circumstances, but according to some later details by Alfred, Ellia the second queen orchestrated the whole thing, but there was never any solid evidence and the case was dropped. Alfred also wants to keep his younger sister out of this mess hence his lack of appearances. Now Dowager Queen Eliya "fell in love" with Mellice in that she saw her as the PERFECT daughter and match for her son the king. Combination of witty, clever, head strong, influential, and the daughter of the militaries general. She DOES love Mellice as a person, but it was PURE politics here in her desire to match her up with her son. When that fell through she sees a second shot by matching up Alfred with Iris seeing the same qualities in her as her mother and these being very unsteady times. She's so aware of the conspiracy by Ellia and knows that she had a hand in 1st Queens death, but again no evidence and knows that her and her son are going to ruin the country hence these plans.

Thank you, translators!

Man, who knew a shoujo game had such interesting politics underneath its layers.

Anyone noticed the line going from Alfred to the edge? Like he has another brother or sister? Was that mentioned before? I can't remember...

Yeah, the backstory of Eliya coveting Mellice and then Iris is a bit creepy in the way it is presented; that Mellice captured her heart and so she wants her. But yeah, she just wants her to be a part of her family.

I thought I would have to wait another year for another chapter! Thank goodness someone has picked this up ?, not sure what's going on at onii-chan's site though.

Can't wait for the next chapter, the politics going on here is so interesting!

Kudos to the translation team~
